If you are one of the 98.94% of the US population who doesn't live in Minot, North Dakota, then the city you live in is even less affordable than the example I've shown you. Still think you are the only one in town looking to earn a 2nd income? I think not. According to White House reports, the unemployment rate in the nation is up 5%, while the average hours worked per week is down to 33.7 hours. These numbers tell me that 2nd income jobs are harder to find and the hours are being cut at primary jobs. This means that more and more people are going to be looking for a 2nd income, if they are not already doing so.

Statistics aside, millions of people are in need of a 2nd income. With jobs growing ever more sparse, where can you go to find a 2nd income? The answer may not include hitting the road in search of a 2nd job. You may want to look into finding a less traditional way to earn a 2nd income. I don't mean if you are a man to find a nursing job, or if you are a woman to get a job at a construction site. In actuality, these situations are not as unusual as they used to be. What I mean by find a less traditional way to earn a 2nd income is to find something that isn't the norm. Find a way to earn money that everybody else isn't looking for. Sell your skills as a nanny or a handyman or a tutor. Whatever it is you are good at doing, there is a way to make money from it.

There is no need to feel embarrassed or less confident because you need a 2nd income. Statistics show that over 60% of households in the United States have more than one income. If you need a 2nd income, you are not alone.
